Median Meta CAC for jewelry brands runs from $16.02 under $50 AOV to $72.27 above $200, a 4.5x gap (Lebesgue, 2026). Store conversion rate runs the other way: 2.0%–4.5% for fashion jewelry, 0.5%–1.0% for fine (Branvas, 2026). A Meta playbook built for a $45 fashion necklace will waste money on a $1,200 diamond ring, and the other way round.
Here's how the playbook changes across the three tiers.
The three tiers side by side
| Fashion | Demi-fine | Fine | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Typical AOV | $40–$85 | $85–$200 | $500–$2,500+ |
| Store conversion rate | 2.0%–4.5% | 1.2%–2.5% | 0.5%–1.0% |
| Median Meta CAC | $16.02–$20.95 | $32.56 | $72.27+ |
| How long buyers take | Same day | A few days | Weeks, with research |
| Main lever | AOV (bundles, upsells) | Repeat purchase | Trust (reviews, guarantees, returns) |
| Judge ads on | 7-day ROAS | 7-day ROAS + 60-day repeat | 30-day blended new-customer revenue |

Fashion jewelry: win on volume and order size
Fashion jewelry converts best of the three, but each order is small, so margin per order is the constraint.
- Creative: fast, trend-led, lots of it. Stacked looks, "outfit of the day", try-on video. Expect creative to wear out within weeks.
- Offer: bundles ("any 3 for $X"), "complete the look" upsells and free shipping thresholds. AOV is the main lever.
- Campaigns: broad targeting and Advantage+ Shopping campaigns work well because purchases happen quickly and Meta gets plenty of conversion data. See Advantage+ Shopping: when it works.
- Watch out for: discounting so often that full price stops converting.
Demi-fine jewelry: win on repeat purchases
Demi-fine has the best median Meta ROAS of any jewelry price band (3.49 at $100–$200 AOV). CAC is still low enough that the first order can cover it, but only just, which makes repeat purchases the difference between a profitable year and a flat one.
- Creative: worn-on-skin close-ups, everyday wear, layering, and gifting moments. Quality has to be visible: the clasp, the finish, the weight.
- Offer: sets and bundles to lift AOV, plus a reason to come back (new drops, matching pieces, gifting reminders).
- Retention: email and SMS flows for the second purchase, and gifting reminders before Valentine's, Mother's Day and birthdays. See the 5-email post-purchase sequence.
- Watch out for: relying only on first orders. One CAC spike can wipe out a month's margin.
Fine jewelry: win on trust and patience
Fine jewelry has the highest CPMs ($21.67 median at $200+ AOV), the highest CAC and the lowest conversion rate. Most sales happen after several visits, often through search, email or a call.
- Creative: craft and materials. Certification, metal details, the making process, real customers wearing pieces. Fewer, better ads that run longer.
- Offer: don't lead with discounts. Lead with guarantees: free resizing, lifetime warranty, easy returns, certificates.
- Campaigns: use Meta to build demand and retarget. Expect Google search and email to close a good share of sales. Optimising Meta for a higher-funnel event (add to cart, lead) can help when there are too few purchases for the algorithm to learn from.
- Judge it right: look at new-customer revenue in Shopify over 30 days, not 7-day ROAS in Ads Manager. A 1.83 median ROAS at $200+ AOV doesn't mean Meta isn't working for fine jewelry. It means the credit shows up elsewhere.
- Watch out for: cutting Meta because 7-day ROAS looks low, then watching branded search fall a month later.
A demi-fine brand that fixed the wrong number
A demi-fine jewelry brand in the US doing $100K+/month had almost all its revenue from first-time buyers. Every CAC bump wiped out the month's margin, so they'd spent months trying to lower CAC inside Meta.
The fix was the demi-fine lever, not the ad account: bundles to raise AOV, and email and SMS flows for repeat and gifting purchases. Once a customer was worth more than their first order, the same CAC became affordable.
What to do today
Work out which tier your best-selling product is in using the AOV column above. Then check one number for that tier:
- Fashion: your average items per order. If it's under 1.5, start with bundles.
- Demi-fine: the % of customers who bought a second time within 90 days. Shopify Analytics → Reports → Customers over time.
- Fine: new-customer revenue in Shopify for the last 30 days compared with what Meta claims. If Shopify is much higher, Meta is doing more than its ROAS shows.

FAQ
What is the difference between fine, demi-fine and fashion jewelry?
Fine jewelry is solid gold or platinum, often with diamonds or precious stones, usually $500+. Demi-fine uses gold vermeil, gold-filled or solid sterling silver with a thicker plating, usually $85–$200. Fashion or costume jewelry uses base metals with thin plating, usually under $85.
Which type of jewelry performs best on Meta ads?
Demi-fine jewelry at $100–$200 AOV has the highest median Meta ROAS for jewelry (3.49, Lebesgue 2026). Fashion jewelry converts best but has small orders. Fine jewelry has the highest CPM and CAC, and more of its sales close through other channels.
How should fine jewelry brands measure Meta ads?
On new-customer revenue in Shopify over about 30 days, not 7-day ROAS in Ads Manager. Fine jewelry buyers take weeks and several visits to decide, so Meta's own reporting misses a large part of what it drives.
